2011 NH Theatre Award top ten finalist - Lori Goldring for Best Scenic Design for Branch River Theatre's production of RENT!
Written by John Bishop, this Broadway comedy is set in the library of an old mansion in Chappaqua, New York, in December of 1940. The story involves two different murder plots that get intertwined during an attempt to solve a three-year old investigation of the deaths of some Broadways chorus girls.
A feigned backer's audition is set up in the library in an attempt to lure the murderer. The owner of the mansion is a well-known supporter of theatre, but when the Broadway hopefuls appear at the mansion hoping to be backed, they soon find themselves watching their own backs ... because there's a murderer loose in the mansion. Dead bodies are showing up everywhere, and a blizzard has cut off all possible ways out! Accusing fingers point in all directions but don't go jumping to conclusions in this fast-paced comedy because nothing is as it appears.
The play, which pokes antic fun at the more ridiculous aspects of "show biz" and the corny thrillers of Hollywood's heyday, is a non-stop barrage of laughter as those assembled untangle the mystery of the Stage.
"Wonderful Music Greg - you were great!" ... Carl A.
"(Sean) Congrats on portraying Angel! I had no idea" ... Cory M.
2011 NH Theatre Award top ten finalist - Leila Teitelman for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical (Maureen), for Branch River Theatre's production of RENT!
If you liked the hit comedy show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” Then you'll love this!
Teams from Branch River Theatre, Actors' Circle Theatre, Small Pond Productions and The River Pole Kat Group (Walpole Players and River Theatre) will compete with each other in a variety of skits by using their improvisational skills and wit for a hilarious good time. Be prepared for a fun-filled evening when our Master of Ceremonies, Gary Gagnon, puts everyone through the wringer.
Each evening's performance will be unique and the audience will have the opportunity to help with the side-splitting antics. Who will prevail??
So start your New Year right and join us with our guests for an “unexpected” evening of post holiday fun. Each night will be completely different … no two shows will ever be the same!

"It was the best show!! Laughed and laughed. The actors were amazing ...
Wish I could see it again ... Everyone should go see it!!!"
As described by Music Theatre International
... "Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer-prize winning Broadway musical based loosely on Puccini's opera La Bohème. It follows a year in the lives of seven friends living the disappearing Bohemian lifestyle in New York's East Village. AIDS and both its physical and emotional complications pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom, and Angel; Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble; Benjamin has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends; and Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general, always behind the camera recording the events but never playing a part."

Here's what was said about the performances ...
Neil Simon called this one of his favorite plays. It's a gutsy story that mixes life's dramatic conflicts with wit and comedic overtones. This is very different from his usual comedies.
Evy, a popular singer who hit the skids has just returned home from a stay in rehab. She is greeted by her age-defying best friend Toby, her 17 year old daughter Polly, and her gay actor friend Jimmy, who are there to help her adjust to sobriety while dealing with their own needs and crises. Enter a former lover Lou and Evy's fall off the wagon, and you have a group of misfits living on the razors edge. There is also a small, yet important, part for a 20 year old Spanish delivery boy.
"Terrific show, great cast. I laughed, I cried, I highly recommend you see this." ... Susan S. via FaceBook
